This post had me thinking, I know many authors have their own separate support areas and we all have the nice item FAQs for specific q&a but are there plans for a “public” FAQ area we could all submit the common support questions and questions to?
Some on the top items I receive questions on are:
- Adding additional widget areas
- How to set a custom field
- How to set up the parent/child relationship on pages
- How to find a category ID
- Enabling Nested Comments
- Setting / Using Post Thumbnails
- Adding additional theme settings
- Installing WordPress
- Setting a default home page
- Other “stylesheet missing” type issues…
Many of these aren’t specific to a theme and could be links to the WP Codex, Tut Videos, Google Searches and so on but it would save hours by just providing a link to an existing resource. I’ve started including many links to external resources in my documentation but it gets to be quite long to read through in the end.
Maybe it could expand under the Wiki and be presented to buyers on download just in case they need some quick assistance 24/7 without having to wait for a reply.
(This was WP related but I’m sure site templates/PSDs have the same shared questions too)
Thanks!

Just an addition, I don’t mean to take the personal aspect out of buying or getting help from ThemeForest, I just assume most people are like me and want to find an answer on their own without having to wait.

+1 or whatever, endless string of plus ones won’t help us. So what do you suggest? I got an idea about some volunteering. Anybody can pick one item from that list and do a tutorial or video tutorial about it. If we can get like 10-30 people, I am sure we will get the job done
Dips on “How to find a category ID”
Anybody who is in and wants to help with this, just choose an item and say “dips”
It’s good for all of us guys! I am sure mods would gave us a permission to inject it in the themeforest wiki.

How about an actual wiki to put the content together as a community before sending it off to the mods or whoever is responsible for the maintenance of the marketplace ‘wiki’.
I’ve set one up quickly on my site, here, feel free to use and abuse it – it could be useful to help work together on articles.

This is a nice idea guys, I’m happy to see everyone getting so involved!
It would be best if we continue to brainstorm common issues buyers may be having and think about the best way to deal with each (article, forum sticky, wiki entry etc). If at anytime you guys would like to send in an idea or some text you think we might find helpful, feel free to get in touch with me via my profile page anytime
@conceptcoding – That’s a nice thought, thanks for doing that, hopefully we’ll see some helpful info begin to become aggregated
