(banging head on wall)

it’s not about me getting my due on the popular page…

to try and make sense of this thread, as simply as I can…

Good files are getting lost in the market place from lack of exposure... They’re gaining sales on the first day from front page exposure and then a day later they drift off into oblivion.

my idea was to bring more attention to new items that are good and getting initial sales, to help everyone... both the little guy and the big guy

The popular items page has about 60 spots for items available on it… and at least on GR, half of them are duplicates... if that doesn’t scream “maybe we need to rethink this…” or “maybe we should add a section for newer items so the page isn’t so redundant.”... then say, “pepperoni pizza” and I’ll just concede my side and play the clown…

Maybe I can summarize what Danny is getting at.

This thread is not about:
  • Becoming popular
  • Staying popular
  • Selling a lot

This thread is about:

An interface/design related issue that causes duplicates to appear in 2 categories on some marketplaces , A LOT of duplicates.

Danny’s point: Consider another way to allow more unique files on that page thus optimizing the UI.

Yes. Also i would like if some administrator can explain here how the popular system works. I have a file with 13 purchases this week but it does not appear in the week-popular list. It does another 6 or 7 files with the same number of purchases. I suppose the system choose between the files with the same number of purchases, but with which criteria?

Thanks in advance.

My point is – it is possible to get in the top30 without being giant. Good files can put you in there and that’s how it suppose to be.

I completely agree… my point is less new files are making that top 30… it seems to be only 10%-20% new files on a weekly basis… which is making the page somewhat static…

and if your new good file doesn’t make that 10%-20% cut… if it’s number 31 for the week… it can easily get lost in the mud…

Again, I’m not proposing changing what is already there… just adding another section for new files that are being purchased/rated to help gain more exposure…
