Envato needs to do one of two things 1) Slow down the review process, ie approve each theme a set amount of time apart, or a set amount of themes approved per day, like 5 max.

this will be bad. There are many authors and their items should be checked on item quality not on a maximum fixed x day based system. If you design something now but you have to wait 3 months to get approved A) your design will be outdated when the item will be on sale B) you just find another marketplace

Instead, items should be reviewed in the shorten amount of time but with great care on quality.

Is not that wordpress has died or themeforest will blow but just that authors, the marketplace and the buyers evolved. The time is gone for random features, approximate coding, no standards.

With the new move from envato to ensure higher quality for themes we will see a lot of themes just going away, and the marketplace will be cleaned. Many authors probably they will just chose to develop a new item instead of going back and fix some theme that was wrongly build from the start. Other may not even know how to fix their theme and just get their item deleted.

Don’t know if envato staff will have the balls to drastically kill theme after theme or will close an eye on minor deviation from the standards they will start to enforce in a month or two from now. it will be an interesting time to see. :)

please see diagram below for a quick overview of the future months. Far away, on the field, we see themes and authors that don’t respect new envato wordpress standards. Near us a bunch of brave reviewers and other helpful staff are cleaning up the marketplace

So the old themes also have to meet the new guidelines? :O

Is just my opinion don’t know what envato plans really are but I’m just thinking logically, the point of standards is to ensure quality and less errors, less angry buyers, more trust in the marketplace (all the good things) If a year from now you have a big mix mess with items respecting standards and other that don’t then what is the point of these changes? I don’t think there’s enough staff to check all themes in next few months, that will be to much work, and just using some sort of script to automatically check and disable items is suicide. It may take some time probably.

Something has to be done to increase the sales of new items because this is madness. People spend months developing this great themes and get only few sales…

I agree. Little things like changing the default list view to the grid view can make a huge difference in exposure.

We agree!!!
It is time to invest more money on Advertising. New marketing strategies!
There are very good themes every single day and Themeforest does not have enough marketing tools to promote them.

Also: a much better search tools need to be apply right now!!!
If you start looking for a sport template, (for example) page1, page, page3… and it is probably that you wont spend more time looking at 10 pages.
There must be a better search tool, something cool, with tones on filters, like:

  • Responsive
  • Skeleton / Bootstrap / ETC.
  • Sports
  • Green/ Red / Pink/ Black
  • Slider / Fullscreen slider/ Nivoslider
  • One page / Multipage
  • Parallax
  • PSD included / jpg included / etc
  • Fonts: Modern, Roman, Google Fonts, even to filter with fonts, like: Open sans/ Cabin/ Etc.

I hope we can have something like that one day.
Cool search tools examples: Ebay search tool.

Agree!

“Trending new items row” of 10 items.. pop that on the home page.. problem solved – won’t ‘spoil’ the home page layout at all – why not just add something like that?! why not? WHY NOT ENVATO :crying: imagine how exciting it would be to watch that row for new trending files on a daily basis..just imagine.. IMAGINE THE EXCITEMENT :chuckle: ... waiting a week to see popular files has become cliche, we want to see DAILY trends, DAILY stats, INTUITIVE search results, let’s kick things up a GEAR ENVATO… I feel like I’ve been saying this for like the last 5 years – guys.. other sites have these features, why not Envato?? Surely can’t be a lack of funding issue ;)

Back on topic, check results for the same week last year, june and august comparative. Almost the same sales number (average), even more on august. I think the problem is crowding, not summer. But who knows. :P
