So reviewers is now forcing me to create bundles? What happened with the three items type rule?

Let me explain

I have a video template with an Android phone (Samsung S4), I have uploaded a video template with an Windows phone (Nokia Lumia 920) an intend to upload an OS version (iPhone) also to create a set of phones for each different operating system available at this time.

My new item has been rejected because it uses the same camera angles and movements as an existing project I already have (but uses an entirely different 3D rendered phone for a different mobile operating system)

This is laughable since very similar items are approved each day even by different authors but surprise I can’t create a set of items that are obviously to complex to bundle together ( for example each has 800mb of HD rendered footage inside, while the limit is 1 Gb)

The reason is not a technical one (so the item is fine) because I had been advised to bundle the item inside the Android version with the possibility to increase the price of the already item I have here.

I’m now obligated to create bundles? Really?

Can I explain to the review team that there are three main operating systems and there are certain phones that can be considered flagships for those operating systems?

Can I explain to the same reviewers that maybe they should start open After Effects and actually create some projects with phones so maybe they will understand that there are not so many type of movements you can do if you want to A| – present client content on screen B| keep the phone visible on screen but offer enough visibility to client content?

Can I explain to the same review team that there is a “three similar items” rule that can be read here? http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/301/51/how-many-item-variations-can-i-upload

Since is my design and my item can I maybe create a set of items that can be used together if someone needs them or separately if they need only one?

But what I’m saying, while should I mention the whole team when I’m quite sure the review team I’m speaking about is actually a certain person who sends me insulting message using the contact form, who maybe should start learning how to treat envato business partners that helps pay for his monthly paycheck.

I clearly consider this rejection of an item that respected the marketplace rules as a harassment from this person.

Envato staff, please check your reviewers, I’m starting to have enough of people who reject items just because they have some personal problems with certain authors. Is not my or envato fault that some random dude of the internet doesn’t like me and acts like a teenager, but I expect more from a multimillion dollar company who made a strong point in fair treatments for the authors who work hardly to create exclusive items for this marketplace.

I will really like to clear the above problems in a civil way, I have refrained myself in mentioning the name of the person I’m talking about as per forum rules, if this thread gets deleted please also remove my community superstar status because it has no meaning if as a member of this community I can’t speak freely about my problems with submitting and selling items on this marketplace.

Thank You

small note:

saw now that the item had been soft rejected since some clever guy from development thought is a good idea if the hidden tab is not populated if you are on a different marketplace. What should I do with this soft rejection? If the request was made to add the item to the Android version what can I edit in the hidden tab? It should had been obviously hard rejected since I can’t melt items together. ( I don’t want to bundle them together anyway but this situation puzzles me)

Since the item was softrejected I can see the reviewer who checked the item so I’m now 100% sure is the person I was speaking about

seems unfair, esp as some theme authors just churn out the same file with different css. Some photodune authors actually upload clipart lol.

Good Luck

let me clarify, the file has similar movements with my Android version but this was my intention since I want to create a set of three video templates each with a different phone for three different mobile operating system respectively.

I’ve checked the rules first and because max three similar items are allowed it looked fine to me to upload three phones each with his item. Quite ideal I can say.

There is enough of a difference between Nokia Lumia, Iphone and Samsung S4 to justify having three different items even if they move similar. There are many ways of presenting a phone but I’m not creating an ad for the phone but for buyer content so I’ve cut on certain movements that dramatically show the devices and focused on presenting clearly the content.

If someone have an app that works on android and iphone would had used two of them. Because the animation is similar it is easy to mix the items.

Since the item size can have max 1Gb if I would had put all three phones together I would had ended up with 2.5 Gb in size.

I know the review team accepts files over 1Gb in exceptional situation but 2 and half gb is way too much. HD video with all mates and reflections eats quite a space and what is the point in reducing quality when I’ve lost time rendering in Cinema4D at high resolution?

So this is my dilemma. I’m working on an iPhone version at the moment but now I’m not sure what should I do.

In the best collection of bad habits, now they should act like a big company and stand up for their guy, even if he was wrong. The team acts like an individual, we are all sharing the same concepts, we cannot cast a shadow on a member of our team. With a bit of luck, they will find a plausible reason for you to tweak something in order to be aligned with their common standards. It’s a win-win situation. Good luck Doru!

the point is to have the item on sale so I and envato can make money by providing the buyers with items to use for their projects. more win situation than this I don’t know

if the process of uploading an item takes 7 days and then you hit obstacles like, “this item is not unique” when there is no other nokia lumia phone video display available on the marketplace then I’m really puzzled of what unique means.

Maybe the reviewer thought that there should be some way you can “bundle” the item by merging all of them into one project; buyers can turn on this turn off that to choose what he wants – but I don’t think so because to be a reviewer he must be a experienced guy to know if it’s even possible or not, am I right ? Because the limited file size is very obvious here.

Now because it’s still in the soft-reject round I think you should try calmly explain about the situation with the points above in the message to reviewer box, maybe with a change in Tag or sth to make sure it passes the validation. Hope that it would be resolved and hope you won’t have to contact with support since it’s gonna take much longer time :stress:

well the file size is just one of the issue here.

To bundle them together, apart of my really crappy upload connection that will take forever to upload a 2.5Gb item, there is no other problem, I can just put all three (including the iphone) in one archive.

but, the price will go higher, meaning I will lose buyers who doesn’t necessarily need all three of them. Don’t like this.

If the price stay the same I’m a douchebag since I’m undercutting other authors items sales. the buyer will not purchase because he likes my item but just because I have three phones and three minutes of animation in one item instead of a similar item from another author with just one phone and maybe 30 seconds. Or maybe I’m just idiot and I should not care about anyone and just put ten phones with 40 minutes of HD video in one item.

I’m a moderator on this forum but mainly i’m an AUTHOR and right now i’m expressing my opinion as author.

Since every animations is 3 minutes long + 800 mb (and the limit is 1gb) + we have this: http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/301/51/how-many-item-variations-can-i-upload

I think reviewers got it wrong here and they need to let you upload 3 different items.

What about footage files? Man talking on iPhone, Man talking on Android? I’m not pointing fingers at certain files but these are just regular files that you can see on any stock footage site They are THE same except the phone… Why don’t they bundle it up?

I don’t know if this is a good idea on your part but you can create another video template for another popular phone making it four video templates. You can combine two templates for each package. So you will have two separate packages that complement each other. This way you won’t have overpriced/underpriced item. I don’t know if the 800mb you said is the final size after compression but if it is, you can reach out to support and maybe they will help you to submit the file after you have uploaded it via ftp.

Or better still, combine two video templates as v1 and submit the third one as v2.

Good luck!
