I’m very disappointed with the sales I’ve been receiving on my Magazine o’Tuts theme. In two months, it’s only made 30 sales.
Could anyone provide any insight as to why this theme hasn’t sold well? Would love some constructive criticism
Thanks.

My strong guess is, only one reason: No color options!
Because other than that, it’s fabulous!
And I feel you man, because I experience the same issue with my own themes sometimes =)
Man, you know what I would give for this theme to start selling like yours? lol
I mentioned similar thing in this topic , my advice is to remember it’s still passive income, and not expecting hundreds of dollars overnight
@danharper: There isn’t really much to criticize, the theme is great!
I’ve seen a few themes similar (and don’t take this literally) to yours released already, so I’m guessing it’s because you’re up against some heavy competition. People probably want something different, although it’s sometimes difficult to even understand what that means for potential buyers.
I’ve been sitting “in the shadow” for quite some time, studying what works on ThemeForest and what doesn’t, but I still can’t pretend to have all the answers.
You see some people succeed almost overnight (check Matt Brett for example) and you see other people fail. Sometimes the reasons are obvious, most of the times they are not. There is some psychology involved as well, that’s for sure, so I guess it’s a matter of trial and error.
It seems that knowing how to design and code is no longer enough (it used to be), now that the marketplace becomes more and more saturated you have to know how to sell. You need the nose for it!
@Dan: Dark designs sell less. Actually, dark designs look somehow hard to modify, or better to say, light clean designs look easier to modify, so they sell more, darks sell less.
PS: This theme needs smaller fonts, and hmm less blank space.
guys , maybe some people here have different tastes as to whats nice and to whats unique from the rest.

I diagree, for a magazine theme which wants people to read whole articles the font size and blank space are good.
I, like most others like this theme as well. I think the problem is not that people dont like your theme, the problem is that they love maximus Convergence theme, which really set the bar very high when it comes to community and magazine themes =)
