Hi, guys funny thing happened to me over the past few days. On friday I have uploaded a HTML version of one of my WordPress Theme (which was approved around 2,5 months ago). It got instantly rejected and I got this response:
Unfortunately your submission XXX isn’t quite ready for ThemeForest and requires significant improvements and changes before it can be resubmitted and reconsidered.Additionally, we have some extra feedback for you:
I’m sorry but your item does not provide a unique enough design with the necessary design quality for ThemeForest. As higher quality file become available in the marketplace approval requirements will increase to maintain appropriate marketplace quality.
Usually, I’d be able to provide more specific feedback, but I’m afraid that isn’t the case here. Every aspect of your design will need to be improved significantly. You will need to make some additional improvements in overall aesthetics and aspects such as typography, graphic quality, details and uniqueness.
I didn’t feel like there is someting wrong with me theme so I have re-uploaded it without any changes but in the comments section I have added a link to the WP version. It got accepted this morning.
I think there is something wrong with the review process…
IMHO , just because a reviewer thinks your design needs to be improved does not mean there is something wrong with the system. The reviewer did not know that its an update, so he reviewed your item as a ‘new’ item and suggested you to improve it. But when you informed him that this item already exists on TF, he had to accept because someone had already accepted it. If that was not the case, I’m sure the reviewer would not have change his opinion.

Hmmm… I kinda get it tbh.
Like the reviewer said the standards will always increase so just because you had a WP version accepted several months ago doesn’t mean a HTML clone should automatically be accepted…
IMO I think it could do with a little more work, it’s quite “bland and basic” from a design point of view not that i’m a designer, it’s just my 2c.
OT: It’s just me or portfolio descriptions got some serious alignment issues on hover?

@dekciv: I don’t know, it seems fine to me. Well I think the point from Mpc is in the text that he bolded. He got a rejection like he is miles away from being accepted. Even if the standards would have been increased, the theme can’t be completely obsolete all of a sudden.

Yeah, changing every aspect of a theme just for approval can result a shift from “sellable” file into “unnecessarily unique”. This is a known risk of uploading themes on TF. Not complaining about review process but pointing the tragedy limitation which seems to be unsolvable.
I guess somehow WP versions are little more tolerated in design due to the features while this is not the case with HTML templates.

Hi Kuba, if you believe there was something wrong with your review process, just contact your reviewer through support, and he’ll gladly sort everything out for you, as to why this happened. Cheers.
Couple days ago we have rejection on this item:
http://htmldemo.themi.co/simplog/homepage.htmlThe reason was: “Overall template typography needs additional refinements and improvements before it will be ready for ThemeForest.” Can you agree with this??? I’m not!
This was accepted to the PSD category few weeks ago.
Now we have a new version, and it looks not as good as this…

I’m afraid I agree – the typography stands out from this theme negatively. It’s a great theme, but the typo ruins it for me.
