Song play count

I think it would be great to know how many times a song has been played or previewed vs how many times it has been purchased. This would be a great indicator for what types of music genres are trending too. Also sometimes its just good to know that your song is being previewed and isn’t just being lost in the mix – in other words, you could then make some tag adjustments and experiment.

If I saw a song of mine had 300+ plays but 0 purchases, it would be a sure indication to me that something needs to change… a.) I need to write differently b.) Improve the quality of my writing c.) Write for a different genre d.) Work on my tags etc. etc.

You can add hit counters to your items to follow their “plays”. It isn’t as accurate, but AudioJungle items do autoplay, so you can be assured that new visitors = new plays.

The hit counter I use is the one most everyone else on AJ uses, its called Flag Counter, and can be found at http://flagcounter.com/

This one will even tell you what countries your visitors are from, its pretty cool. It also has a full featured details page when you click on it that gives useful graphs, and dates associated with those page views.

Yeah that’s true, but it’s kind of a hassle once you have hundreds of items to add the counter to each one…

The main problem I see with that however is that it would not take into account all the times your files is previewed from somewhere other then the main file page.

It would just be better if it was built in on AJ I think…

That would be nice. Also making search stats available to authors would be really cool as well.

A play counter would be sick!!! I love getting info on my songs, so I can improve.
