I think it would be a good idea to start up a tutoring program here on 3DOcean, i see a lot of file that could be improved so much if the person just knew a few of the rules of poly modelling and this could result it a lot of file being more useful more likely to sell, i also see a lot of file where the poly distribution is very uneven resulting in a file which will be of little use to a lot of company’s that have poly counts in mind as they will want very consistent poly distribution so the detail is the same all over the model

i am good at modelling and have work on a number of game titles and a number of films, i provided untextured work which was then textured by anther artist, i also took films meshes and made them game ready, taking a file with 100,000,000 polys and getting it down to 20,000 – 30,000 polys without losing too much detail.

I would be more that happy to tutor at least 5 people on modelling i am based in 3d max so it will be using 3d max,

i can tell you how to improve existing work or current work or i can set a task give you a picture and say model this, am open to suggestions.

would be good if other people could tutor as well in say rendering, texturing, lighting and modelling these would be best to start with, i would love to learn more texturing.

tell me what you think.

rendering is not my best skill modelling is but if we can get some more volunteers we should be able to fill the other sections in!

Guys that would be great! Perhaps I will rename or replace the WIP 2010 thread with a Tutoring thread where anyone being unsure about something can post their work and get tips , collect feedback and be tutored a little where needed (which is actually what the WIP thread was supposed to be for :) ).

I would be fine with that but i think it would be best if people are responsible for one of the 4 disciplines rendering, modelling, lighting and texturing

HollowIchigo Modelling tutor

3alisha texturing tutor

I most liked the idea of setting a task such as model a phone, then the everyone can go through the step together and learn more!
