Hi there tf!

Something that really annoys me when Im browsing tf forums, are the stickeys on the main page. Take the general discussion as an example, 2/3 spots are taken up by stickeys (not so long ago it was 3).
My question is, can’t this be changed, so only new topics are displayed?

Thanks! ps: is it stickeys or stickies?

This is just a possible idea, but what if you had a category at the bottom (or top) of the forums just for “stickies”. Then you can restrict it so that normal users cannot create a new post in that category, but can reply.

I only suggest this because in normal forums they either have the stickies not previewed on the forum index, or they have more than three slots available for previewing.

Well stickies are there to display a message. One that is important and should be read by all. As long as the message still serves a purpose, the sticky remains for any new members or people that have not yet read it.

By pushing it to it’s own category would negate the point of having them stick to begin with. People could just ignore the category completely, and we would never get the message out properly. I check every once in a while to make sure all of the stickies are still relevant. When they lose their point, they are removed.
