A lot of blog themes today make use of featured images for thumbnails around the site, featured post sliders on the front page, and at the bottom of individual blog posts to help you find other posts you might be interested in. I’d love to buy a “Featured Images Pack”, much like a stock icons pack for apps and web design, but for blog posts.

I’m not sure what the most popular post thumbnail sizes are (and you might have to consider featured slider sizes too), but it would be great to have different packs of these available, probably for different content types. For example: I deal in tech, so I’d love to have some standard featured images for topics like productivity, Apple, web apps, Microsoft, design, etc. Food sites would want a pack for cooking, recipes, restaurant discovery, etc.

Am I nuts? I can’t be the only one. Maybe I can be, but one can dream.

I think a lot of this is doable and I do think blog icon/thumbnail packs would be good, it’s just designers can’t really make and sell packs that would include MS and Apple logos in your case. For that you’d have to use your own images as they couldn’t be included in the pack. Slider templates for size could be included but it would depend on which Jquery/Jslider plug in you’re using.

Well, this is a design community, right? I was hoping people could get a little creative. Company logos aren’t the only things we can use to represent them. ;)
