I know there has been a lot of suggestions regarding new market places, like gear… something and others but, I have some photography friends that take amazing stock photography but there is no market place to join so they can sell like most of us do with our flash, graphics and coding things.
Plus at the office I’m constantly looking for stock images for projects. Most of the time I only find crappy cliche images or images that are to expensive for the client to afford, in addition to the whole royalty free and rights managed bull…
Has this been talked about or thought about before?
Anyways, like others I thought of a cool name that kinda follows the marketplaces… Shutter Island, even though there’s a crappy movie out the with the title already…

wait wait wait. Shutter Island looks crappy to you? Really? How?
Also, there was already a discussion about this before, and the consensus was basically that if Envato is going to make one, they’ll do it in their own time. The big issue with making a whole new section is having to hire a whole whack of people to run the thing.
The movie wasn’t my favorite and they would do a similar effort to start this as they did for 3DO and CodeCanyon.
yeah, i figured it out there been tons of discussions about this topic (i did suggested it too)..
I dont know about your friends (i have pro photographers friends also) but my friends dont think it is profitable to sell their images at stock websites, and if Envato goes for one, prices must be really cheap in comparison to the big stock websites…It would be something like graphicriver authors trying to get a good profit from that marketplace…is really difficult with those prices and so many files on there….
now, talking as a buyer..Im really looking forward to it…
I think the main issue would be dealing with the copyrights….people would use photos more than once in several projects without getting it the extended license….

Digital stock photography is a pretty saturated market already.

yeah the competition from the massively well known sites for that would almost make it not worth the point personally…

Hey Pixeljunkyard and everyone! Just letting you know that the site managers and staff certainly hear you and pay attention to these kinds of requests. This has definitely been brought up before, so we’re listening. All requests get discussed by the staff members.
Can’t promise anything either way, but we do love the feedback

+1
Rather then making a full blown site for just stock photos, the Envato team could make a category on GraphicRiver for stock photos?
