It is simple and totaly efective if it works the way i have it in my mind. My idea is to make the author to upload not only how their items look (web based like working templates, css navigations, and layouts), but also to provide image of their item on differend browsers. Well in the item’s meta is written that they support for example IE6 , IE7 and so on, but we all know that “support” does not mean it looks great. I think this is realy important for the buyers to know and to be more satisfied.

I’m not shure if this must be required for the authors, but the one that do it maybe will have more positive feedback and not suprised customers.

Erm… Why not rely on buyers to view demos in various browsers.
