What is the difference between updated item and up-to-date item ;) To find these things, it will require huge reviewing resource and has less room for objective decisions.

I think it would be useful for the following:

- Only on the front page if the buyer follows you (so it would show up in the top right box)
- And only if it’s so important update that the notification E-mail was sent out too

- First point would eliminate clutter for normal users (who don’t follow you)
- Second point could eliminate spam with the minor update changes

I would support such system only if it’s implemented the way Firsh said: only and only to the subscribers to be available, otherwise this could pose a serious spam issue.

what about letting the reviewer decide if the update is huge enough to bring it up again to the front page?

Bad idea at the moment. As we already know the reviewers are quite assaulted with the items being submitted everyday, not to mention that I’m sending updates quite often (sometime daily), putting the reviewers in a position of selecting particular updated items to be shown in the home page would increase the time they spent on such things, therefore I think the Item approval/update time will increase for the rest of the items.

I think it would blast users to update their items, so that their items would be visible on Index Page. Something Like that… What do you think?

+1 – definitely, or at least a filter to the item listings so customers can view items by different search criteria, such as the most recently updated. It’ll show customers which authors are the most active in supporting their products, and maybe also provide an incentive for them to do so.

It would be much better if Envato emailed buyers when a purchased item is updated, or have a marker or seperate section in Downloads for updated items.

+1 – I’m surprised this isn’t already integrated. When you’ve got a lot of items in your downloads section you can’t keep checking them all for updates. I know updates for some themes and plugins will show up in the Wordpress admin, but not all.

This already happens right? If you click the box next to the item in your downloads you get an email telling you an update in available to an item

I think that’s only for graphicriver or markets where the item is a single creation and your update would add more as a ‘pack’. We would be baffeld if wou couldn’t update themes or plugins with new functionality.

Yep.
