“Social” as in social networking. I know we can ‘follow’ people, but it’d be good if we could have a stream to view of new items added. What also would be cool is if authors could post things to a personal blog or micro-blog type format. That way we could posts things, interact with buyers and and other authors. We could post progress shots of up coming features, etc.
So, in summary:
- Ability to post – either some short text (a la twitter) or a picture with a short comment
- Ability to reply to/comment on posts
- Ability to have a news stream that contains:
- Shows posts by authors you follow
- Shows new products added by authors you follow
- Shows notifications regarding things on your account, e.g. new sale on item X (can be changed to summary mode for those with a lot of sales, or just turned off)
What do you guys think? I think it’d help build up the community even more! Any additional ideas/suggestions?

You can’t see all of them, you can only see the most recent 9!
Not recent, just random i think

I agree. Making the marketplaces more social wouldn’t hurt. I suggest going a big the Dribble way, and allowing authors to publish screenshots from their upcoming works.

I’m not entirely sure we’d need something like that, when we already have Dribbble which does it so well? Maybe allow us to link to Dribbble posts more easily or maybe there’s some sort of api that’ll allow you to show a dribbble feed.
It’d definitely be nice to see a list of followers and who I’m following at this. That’s a feature that’s been consistently asked for.
That would be cool if they had some sort of integration, so you can have it show up in your feed to your followers, “AuthorX posted on dribble” then show the image and link to dribble.

There is already Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, dribbble, behance, etc etc etc that serve the same purpose. Don’t need any more of that and I believe there are much better and more important things for Envato to focus their resources at.
