That’s a bit harsh, isn’t it? I mean if they managed to sell over a certain amount of work, that sort of also vouches for the quality of their items… not to mention that the average rating (which is rather rare) of an Elite author is that of 4+.

I understand this is somewhat intimidating, but they do deserve some credit for their performance, not to mention the positive side-effects WS mentioned

at least at videohive it’s almost impossible to find an author with less than 4 stars.

I think what Jaegers meant was that the term elite suggests that other authors, who might be great as well but new to the marketplaces, aren’t as good as them.

I just believe the more strict term will be more suitable. For example “top seller”. Moreover, when you say there are an Elite, then who are others?

I do not know about AudioJungle, so I can speak for few marketplaces only where I am experienced:

I can live better with even 60%, if Envato takes care certain responsibilities that can’t be covered by authors individually. Any effort from Envato’s side to stabilize business (in the industry), monitoring fair competition (internally) and sensible user interface, usability improvements will require them reasonable % share.

In case Envato announces an 80 or 90 range % for authors, I will obviously assume they decided to be more relaxed and less care / responsible from their business! I would see it as more of a red signal than additional profit.

Actually I agree that the term ‘elite’ has negative connotations for the rest of us! But, top seller is factual and fair!

IMO: More money for Envato = More stable live for Authors
But yes, it will great to get 71% for example after sale for 1M

love this idea. Elite + 5000 sales should be enough to warrant trust with updates.
