Hello fellow authors!
For a while now I’ve been thinking that the Themeforest homepage should be more of a landing page.
Below you can see what I meant with the previous sentence. I also try to explain my vision.
![]()
- There shouldn’t be a “New Items” section this only produces most of the authors to make themes/templates quickly to be on the homepage. Uniqueness is gone.
- A big search should be visible on the homepage, so buyers could search quickly what they want. This of course means that there should be a lot better searching system.
- Blocks of benefits should also draw buyers attention. Why Themeforest is a better marketplace etc.
BONUS
I decided to start a search page also and this is where I am so far. This is just an idea which we all could benefit from, in my opinion.
What do you, fellow authors/buyers, think of that ?
I am not a native English speaker, so please excuse any mistakes I made.
Have a nice day,
Kris

Search should be more prominent since so many items are released daily. But not without a better search system behind the scene. I like your screenshot but recommend some sort of quicklinks to dedicate categories too.
A better search page is already available on 3Docean

Come on, they don’t have time and manpower for improvements on marketplaces. Oh, wait, they are just launching new site on which whole new team worked 3 months..

purethemes saidThat’s what I first thought when I logged into Twitter this morning.

revaxarts saidThank you for that, means a lot!
I like your screenshot…
Those pictures are just ideas. Hopefully in this thread there will be some discussion between buyers, authors and devs to make it better for everyone.

This is a big no no in my humble opinion.
Would you care to explain ?
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts Kriskorn, it is always nice to hear our fellow author’s precious ideas.
I will share my thoughts all together soon, I just want to have them all together in one post.
Wish you the very best,
Bedros
This homepage is a very bad homepage for a site like themeforest.
Buyers need to see new items and their beautiful icons. They must immediatly see what they could get here and immediatly see some examples as well ( that might as wel be the latest additions, which makes perfectly sence )
Themeforest is a commercial place, and this homepage design has absolutely nothing to do with that.
“There shouldn’t be a “New Items” section”: There definitly should be one. New visitors and potential buyers should immediatly see what they could get and the quality etc. And returning visitors should get fresh meat every day.
The other two points ( well, the search could be better ) are also not good at all. It’s completely useless to have blocks that say how a site or service is. ANYone can say that, people need to experience it. With all the BS ‘good business’ claim these days people don’t care about text saying how great something is – they want to see for themselfs, and showing of your nice products is just the best way. THEN there ‘could’ be things like plusses and minors about TF an a sort of extra support.
Allthough a more prominent search is a good idea, there couldn’t be a worse homepage for a commercial site like themeforest. ( don’t mean to be rude! honestly )
