I see many authors are using it, so here’s the question:
do you grant read access to anybody (unregistered) or make them private so only verified buyers can access them ?

Hi, on my support forums only registered users can read the topics, to register you need to have a valid purchase code.

Envato already has a forum and api. Maybe they could… like …make a support forum where only the thread titles are available for those who didn’t purchased the files.

That is just how I plan to run my forum. I will let all potential buyers to read the how-to posts and to see how I reply to the problems users have with my themes and that every issue is solved.

Oh please, not another discussion about ratings

As for the author forums ability on item pages… PLEASE make this high priority. We need it so badly. I’ve been making excuses to customers for almost a year now telling them Envato is working on an update but it’s starting to get harder to explain after all this time.

I’m I imagining being told this was in the works? I can’t find a thread where an Envato staffer addresses it but I really thought I remembered that being said.

I think a ticket system would be better than a forum, but either works.

Sure. Either, both, whatever just something.

I’m starting to give a lot more consideration to being non-exclusive and selling my own themes as a package outside Envato just because the upkeep for support is such an enormous time drain and there is no way to delegate the item discussion page questions without providing your TF login and I’m not about to start giving that information out.

Time to step up in this area Envato. I know you’re crazy busy and you work very hard but we’ve been extremely patient in this matter. Patience can wear out eventually.
