I submitted a .psd template to themeforest and was surprised to find no reason given for rejection even tho the item was of high quality…
Is this common for themeforest reviewers or do they usually leave crits or advice?
Thanks, Liam

If the theme is really bad they don’t give any criticism advices.. Otherwise they would tell you what to do in order to improve your theme.
If you post some screenshots here, i’m sure you’ll find people who’ll help you by criticising your theme
Dear Liam,
“even tho the item was of high quality”
How do you know this? I am unable to judge my own work. Sometimes I feel that is great just to show it to somebody and get the “what is this crap” response. So I let others do the criticism.
Here on the forum there are great Kreativ reviewers
I know the .psd template is of high quality because I have been designing websites for 10 years including the website for america’s yellowpages.com while working at DDB advertising agency (the biggest ad agency in Australia.)
Anyway, here are some screenshots….

The template contains 6 .psds and took days to complete so 5 mins of a reviewers time to mention why he rejected it would have been nice.

Why is that? No reason again… Your as bad as the reviewer… :/
Generally if you write back to your reviewer asking which were the big areas of concern they will often give you some crits.
neopeaks saidI’m sorry.. I’ve been in your place a lot of times until now.. But you have to look at the quality of the designs in the psd category and you have to realize that it doesn’t fit in there. I too have submitted designs to the psd category and they got rejected and i had to realize that those designs will never go in there, so i’ve coded them and got accepted.

It’s the same case with your design.. It’s just too basic and has a lot of typography/spacing/visual issues.

To get a PSD approved, the design should be of advanced skill, with special attention to the small details, or providing something that hasn’t been seen before.
Your PSD is far too basic. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just that many others could (and have) produced this kind of design before, and it wouldn’t add anything unique to the marketplace.
The reason it might get accepted as a coded site, is that you can call it ‘minimalist’. However, I think there are far too many ‘minimalist’ themes being submitted. These themes aren’t usually anything special, they just call themselves minimalist so that they can submit something half-baked and get it accepted.

Because the quality simply isn’t good enough for that category.
As Ruben said, if your design needs a lot of improvements, reviewers won’t give you a particular reason for rejecting it.
I’d suggest taking a close look at the PSD templates on sale and study the attention to detail.
Also, note that PSDs sell far less than HTML or WordPress.
