Hi,

I recently purchased a theme here on themeforest. Ive customized the theme slightly but now when I want to optimize it for google I see that the author users H1 class=”h1” for the label of the menu, sidebar etc etc.

As far as I know the H1 head is very important for google, Will this affect my website’s foundability, and should i change it to lets say h5?

i allways use h1 only for the Main Head Logo/Name of the page. Also, i don´t use any other h1 on the page, just only one. The name.

But i guess the h1 must be the thing most relevant on the page, for example, on this post, the h1 on the code is for the post title, same as page title.

I think depends on what you are posting, and what kind of content you have.

Sounds good?

Please send me a link to the template via my profile page contact form here: http://themeforest.net/user/jremick Please don’t post a link to it here though.

If I understand you correctly though, the template uses a class of h1, not the actual h1 tag? If that’s the case, it’s likely just for styling purposes and will not affect Google. Google will look at tags, but will just ignore CSS (ID’s and classes).

h1, h2, h3, h4, etc are supposed to be by order of importance basically. You might want to change them for SEO purposes.
