Just a question…. Is there a really good reason why after templates are approved the first time, that any further updates to that template would have to be reviewed again?

All authors should test their templates before hand, and I’m sure the reviewers are testing them as well… but things do get missed… and the first couple of sales of a template are almost like another round of testing…

It’s often I find I’ve missed some issues that I can fix quickly and want to push to those customers who’ve contacted me about them… yet I have to tell them I’m waiting on a new approval…

Now I’ve noticed the wait isn’t normally as long as regular reviews, so I appreciate that and the wait doesn’t really bother me as much as it does the customer who made the purchase when I have to tell them it could be a couple of hours or a couple of days… I just don’t know :)

If the reasoning is to avoid malicious activity… I understand that, however I think some trust should be provided to authors who have built up a portfolio, reputation, sales, etc… I don’t think anybody who has gone through a lot of work to build themselves up, is going to try and do anything to ruin that…

Even if the privilege is granted only after a certain bar has been reached would be wonderful…

New reviews/approvals are absolutely vital to ensure no errors were made during changes/updates, or we would be giving out refunds left and right because authors would make big mistakes or completely forget files, happens all the time. It also does help guard against malicious activity and ensure that quality is maintained on the marketplaces, it does all of the above :)

I agree with your “authors with a reputation should be more trusted” standpoint, but then you’ve also got to take into account, what if their accounts get hacked? Maybe they could implement a fast-review queue, based on an author’s trusted IP address?

That could be easily spoofed by someone less ethical ;)

MAC address? Probably can be spoofed as well, I really don’t know much about the hacking world so I guess I’m not the best person to be brainstorming for fool-proof ideas lol.

Because it’s the same process of reviewing, waiting in line with the rest of the themes… just like @luckykind said.. the modifications of a allready accepted theme takes a little too long to complete
Same problem with a nearly accepted theme.. :(
How about that the “update” products get a different pending line and / or a different reviewer that handles only updates. I’m in the “update” state with a template since Sunday(submitted my template last Thursday) and it’s for minor issues I got rejected Sunday and placed in the Update state then again rejected this morning..(for some minor lists issues that I did not necessarily understand the purpose in my case.. but anyway.. fixed them and resubmitted) I’m waiting for another 2-3 days to be reviewed again :(

So I would be +1 for a faster processing of the updates… somehow :)..

I understand your points and they are all valid… but one left out is that it slows the process of a satisfactory delivery down… As authors, we can’t always predict how our items will be implemented and I’m sure even the best of us miss things that should have been caught through our initial review or through Envato’s initial review of quality/standards…

When a purchaser finds those quality blemishes… the faults lies in both our hands (Envato & the Authors)... so when they contact me, the author, and I create a fix for them as quick as possible… Envato, being the middle man is slowing the standards of quality and a good customer experience down… not taking a shot at the team… just looking at this through a customers eyes….

How Envato fixes it is up to them, however it is a problem I believe…

Please don’t turn this thread into a thread about themes that haven’t been approved yet… being somewhat new to the marketplace, I understand your excitment / frustration on waiting… however, eventually you’ll come to learn that a couple days isn’t really that long to wait on new items…

This topic isn’t about new/unapproved items… and I don’t want this thread to steer down that path… please ;) thanks :) sugar on top…

Ok, if you put it that way(lol), I will not say anything more … Was not saying about unapproved themes… but the ones in the “update state” after the first rejection …anyway..you did say with sugar on top…..I’m shutting up now!
