I don’t know about you but I’m starting to enjoy using textures as backgrounds in my designs, however there are only so many things PS can do and I was wondering if anybody knows of any textures/texture sites on the internet where we’re allowed to use the textures for things like templates that are sold? And if now, would it be a good idea for Envato to add a collection to their asset library?

Thanks

Simon

I would love to see a collection of textures added to the Envato asset library. :D I think I have a site or two in my bookmarks or something with textures that could be used but I’ll have to dig for them. I’ll post’em when I find’em. :)

A lovely one :

Need to check the licences for use as commercial (but if you mix it as background, it s impossible to recognize… )

Can you use textures from cg textures in templates, it says you can use them for commercial use but not distribute them as a texture but thats what it will be in the images surely? It doesn’t make it totally clear in the license: http://www.cgtextures.com/content.php?action=license

Pretty sure you can use them. They don’t want you just taking them and re selling them as texture packs by themselves. If you have a look at a few paragraphs from the license, I think it clears it up:
Allowed:
... -Private or commercial use - Use in 2D or 3D computer graphics, movies and printed media ...
Unallowed
- Sell or distribute any of these textures in an unmodified form, or where the derived product you are selling or distributing is a Texture or a collection of Textures. IN OTHER WORDS : Do not sell or distribute any of these textures (modified or not) by itself or in a texture or scrapbooking pack!

So, I don’t think it’s an issue at all to use for part of a web design :)
