I wanted to share my long time love for the demoscene with this community,if you are not familiar with the demoscene i seriously suggest you take a look, this could be a good source of inspiration for some of us:
“The demoscene is a computer art subculture that specializes in producing demos, which are non-interactive audio-visual presentations that run in real-time on a computer. The main goal of a demo is to show off programming, artistic, and musical skills.”
“The demoscene is a largely competition-oriented subculture, with groups and individual artists competing against each other in technical and artistic excellence.”
And here are some examples:
“You should” by Haujobb: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3CbdiEwUDY
“1995” by Kewlers & MFX : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dX-cVUg57EE&fmt=22
“Lifeforce” by ASD : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0OfkJc711A
I do understand that this doesn’t relate directly to what we do,but i think it’s a good alternative for browsing through showreels, tutorials and others projects for inspiration.
If you want to find out more visit http://www.pouet.net – Also i can post some more links if you guys find this interesting.
p.s Already a friend of the demoscene? Post your favourite links,i want to see them!

Awesome,i’m glad someone found something new.
Actually i was involved in the demoscene many years ago, doing some Flash for a couple of years. You can download my first demo ever from http://scene.org/file.php?file=/parties/2001/assembly01/flash/pixel_engine_by_esko_ahonen.zip&fileinfo – This made 3rd place at the Assembly 2001 demoparty.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep in mind that this is almost 10years old, using Flash 4 and the actionscript those days wasn’t much.Trying to show that there is much more to flash than just the keyframing
Although it is funny to see how i had a thing for particles even back then
Fantastic stuff Esko!! lol…
You definitely love particles….
