Last year’s selections were made that way. This time changed and as a result, many items repeating on both 2011 and 2012 list. Popularity boost at its peak! 
I guess half of the current items will again enter into 2013 selections as well.

Popular != best.
There are hundreds of beautifully designed themes getting little to no exposure. It would be nice if you gave them a push once in a while instead of continuing this circlejerk.
With the exception of King Size, these best-of themes are plain – selling well because the generic look can be adapted to any niche, and having bloated themselves with every WP feature under the sun helps – but my point is they’re certainly not creative nor unique, and shouldn’t be classed as best-of material, unless your criteria is popularity.
All you’re proving is authors should start designing to this winning forumla, and in turn will remove any creativity from the TF marketplace.
