was there any announcement how often a bundle will come out, like for theme forest, how many times will there be a themeforest bundle per year?

a bundle every two month, next should be activeden marketplace. is what I understood from the posts made by envato staff members. so six times every year. probably not including birthday bundle.

Collis said about every 6-8 weeks – WAY too often…. And they should not be on a time table at all at the very very least if they continue

Wait, This means that AD will get a dedicated bundle only once per year, and not every 2 months.

What customer would actually refrain from buying regularly and prefer to wait a whole year just to get the bundle?

EDIT : +1 on the no-time table idea. Bundles and discounts should always be a surprise, so people don’t rely on them arriving at a specific date. Steam Store uses this method alot.

@ParkerAndKent’s first post

Beware of one thing – buyers who bought for example the last WP bundle will actually use 1 or 3 files max. The underestimated catch in creating bundles is to bundle it in a special retarded way that ANY “type” of buyer will use 1 or 3 files max, the rest is just unused/unwanted. So in real life, you don’t buy $300 value for $30 – because nobody will ever use all files. There are exceptions of course, but you get my point.

So if you guys start offering those “take a pick” bundles, this becomes the bundle marketplace. Everybody will wait and buy in bundles every once in a while – because they can pick and really save $270 (from example above).

I am not saying it’s a bad idea, I just think it’s not a business model suitable for Envato marketplaces. At least in a way you suggested it in your first post. Just my 2c to the discussion. Cheers! :)

edit: doing occasional bundles like Envato do now is great. Especially when the buyer is new here. When they try their first deposit here (or card payment) AND feel happy about the products, you can be sure they will come back for more eventually. The conversion from a window shopper to a first time buyer is hard (and bundles, promos, etc help), but once they lost their virginity and feels quite happy about it, they will come back. And honestly, after all the junk I’ve paid for online, Envato is one of the best experiences.

I think bundling can be done properly, but I haven’t seen anything of promise yet. The best I can say is a pick 3 get a percentage off and it can only be from one author. On audio jungle they have music packs, and it’s a totally different animal. Say I went into an authors portfolio and saw 3 themes I liked, it would be a nice incentive from a buyers point of view to get a discount after a certain number of items from the same author. I don’t think it would work marketplace wide though. A little chip off might push me to get that last item just because i’m getting a deal and I know I’ll use it. There would be the issue of who eats the discount and all that. Who knows, maybe it can be made to work?

Hey guys, some very good points here and I like the way the discussion is going… my idea wasn’t the idea of the century, obviously, it was simple thinking… after all the the thoughts expressed here it’s easier to see the pros and cons, so let’s take it easy and I’m sure this discussion will be a good talk about the real bundles.
