I wonder why, then, prices have remained the same sounds? :)

It would be very nice to see some price increases in sounds category as well. As far as I know, prices of sound effects were never adjusted since the start of AJ. But I don’t know what would be the best solution to do this.

That’s difficult to price them correctly. For instance single mouse click cost 1$ like complex trailer hit up to 10 sec length. Generally there should be lower time tiers to get higher price plus bonuses: 1$ for additional variations and custom 1$ bonuses for sounds in demand or hard to create/record. But it’s only my wishpist :)

That actually makes sense.

Differences in sound effects are more “delicate” in the time range between 1 (or less) and 15-20 seconds, than in range of longer sounds. The majority of longer sounds are usually ambience sound, and it only takes another minute of patience and is no-brainer to record longer sound, while it takes much more work, thinking and creativity to produce shorter but effective sound effects.

Regarding variations: maybe items containing up to three variations could stay $1, but if more than 3 meaningful variations are included, I’d really like to see price increase to at least $2. The way things are dealt now leaves us to situation in which sound effects are very devalued. For example, I have a few items with more than 5 (sometimes even with 10!) variations which are priced $1. That makes it 10 cents per sound effect!

Only a minute..haha! ;) I keep looking back at all the times I have recorded ambient sounds. They went something like this:

“Great! Almost got it….just a little bit more…..Damn! Scooter drove by! Ok, I can edit that out. Alright, almost got it now…ah! Stupid kid yelling…and that dog…where is that dog barking coming from? Ok, now we’re good. 10 more seconds and I think I’ve got enough for one good take. 5 seconds…#@#$#! Bicycle!

Always something to spoil those long ambient recordings. :)

Haha :D Yes, I know these situations quite well :) It’d be interesting to compile a list of funny moments that happened during recording “sessions”. But, that’s offtopic :)

Anyhow, I know what you mean. For ambience you basically just have to sit there and “do nothing”. Whether it’s for a minute longer or 5 minutes, it’s not really much of a difference.

Although I’ll say that picking the right place on the right day at the right time (and driving there and setting up – if needed) could take a good amount of time and research…and luck.

I will join in the party and also complain about the sfx prices :)....for obvious reasons.

A somehow small increase would be a lovely surprise.
