I’ve uploaded half a dozen projects and they’ve all been rejected! I don’t worry about it though, and you won’t hear me moaning, I just pour another scotch and resolve to try harder the next time!

Would love to get involved with selling templates though. Some of the stuff on here really is first class. I like to think I’m pretty handy with AE, but I just don’t have the patience or the time with other stuff I’m working on for clients. I’m an Adobe Certified Expert in After Effects, which I’m not saying makes me special or anything (it is multiple choice after all!)... just that I like to think it elevates me slightly over the ‘casual user’ kind of level… so in theory I’d like to think I should be able to come up with something that will at least get accepted, as long as I put some work in. It’s unlikely to be a best seller though.

I find it really difficult to put in the time a project deserves though… I get the theory, i.e that to make a truly great project you’re probably going to spend a good amount of time on it before you even open After Effects. What type of project you’re going to make, the colour scheme, the approach you’re going to take, planning, research, what sells/what doesn’t etc etc.

Impatience gets the better of me though and I sit there staring at a blank comp for five minutes and then just whip up any old nonsense. A solid? Yep, that’s a start. Camera? Yeah, why not. Footage placeholers? Cant hurt. A flying robotic space horse from the future? Surely that’s what every project needs! Like I’m making some kind of exiting new culinary dish and just throwing in ingredients willy-nilly.

Sorry, kind of gone off topic there. Just wanted to share! Until I do get my own projects out there, I’ll keep buying everyone else’s templates to use for client projects. Big shout out to InLifeThrill, UniqueFX, Felt Tips, Motion Revolver, Vectorica… loving your work.

In the meantime I’ll stick to my basic stock footage/motion graphics elements. Keeps me ticking over with a bit of cash in the old account.

Yes there is that thread “Item Discussion” but it’s not worth posting anything there since reply there is 0%. Probably that’s why everyone post their complainments in regular forum. At the other hand, what Massfocus said has some truth in it. Luckily there is history tab on every project that is accepted and there we can see who was the reviewer. Every time when I have some problem or rejections it was from the same reviewer and always details for the rejections was as someone said “Earlier one of my logo animation was rejected saying there are lot of simillar logo reveals already there in videohive. But the very next day i saw exactly ( can say 99% ) same style of logo animation was approved here and it was there in the popular files for almost a month making good sales.” Here is the example of that.. This is the file that has been accepted few days ago: http://videohive.net/item/casino-lights/3878341 and everyone here knows that that file is under files we don’t need category. Camera moves are not that great, glow on logo look kind of cheap. It’s a nice file but HEY I thought that if we need to get our file accepted in category of files we don’t need we have to make something extraordinary ! Here is mine file that has been hard rejected about two months ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBdEID11enA now tell me that that file that is accepted has more quality then mine. But I give up from that project I’m just bringing that up as an example that not everything is right here. I also do not encourage this new authors to spam forum with every new project that look like it’s from 90’s that is rejected. But remember the file from Creattive : http://videohive.net/item/clean-rotation-logo/3781774 that has been rejected and it was really one nice piece of work. And now it’s in “popular items” section after contacting support.

I know that reviewers works hard and that there is thousands of new projects to be reviewed but hey you asked for job and you are payed for it then made some basic rules that will be the same for all authors here. As someone said up there I really low this place. It gives everyone opportunity to show their potentials without someone to tell you what to do and the way you do it. We are our bosses. And that feels great. But with all respect to envato team this is a community and it’s getting bigger and bigger from day to day and everyone here is bringing money to envato ( some of us smaller amount then others ) and we all have right to be heard.

You do really bad pointing out an accepted file like an example of bad work.

Something like that is totally forbidden from the forum rules and personally I find it very an polite from your side.

Indeed this is stupid… i dont want to be harsh or something but please think such guy like inlifethrill could come to most of us and say how such work can be accepted because his work is top notch this is so unpolite that i think you should even edit your message….

You guys said it’s bad. I said it’s not good enough to be accepted in category of ” Files we don’t need”. If mods want to remove that they can but I won’t since I know what I’m talking about and that is not that that file is bad it’s just not good enough for category where explanation when your file is rejected is: file has to bring something new and has to be exceptional. That is not exceptional file. I don’t have anything against author or the file I’m just telling facts.

I don’t think that you are alluded to judge the work of other people. You continue to be impolite.

Ok mum I”ll be a good boy :P Man I have right to say what I think especially in that case since I claim that my file was better then that one and I’m the one who is threatened there. I don’t know did I break forum rules ( I think not since I show that to compare and people did that earlier here ) so please stick to the point I said in that thread and not to tell me to be impolite or polite. I’m a grown man :P

You are 22 years old… I am 42

Except impolite you are also ironic.

The point is NOT to point out other people like bad examples. This is a job of the reviewing team.

But remember the file from Creattive : http://videohive.net/item/clean-rotation-logo/3781774 that has been rejected and it was really one nice piece of work. And now it’s in “popular items” section after contacting support.

Hi, nice to see anyone is remembering that :)

Facts are: An initially rejected item is the most selling file on videohive (maupas Black 3D Logo). My file was initially rejected, got then 6 sales in the first 8 hours it was online and is now in Top Sellers for the 2 weeks it is available. With a bit of luck it will stay there a third week. The day it was approved was the best day for me in over one year here.

So what shall I think now of rejections?

It’s really hard to acceppt rejections now that I’ve seen that reviewers can be so damn wrong with their decisions. I know who’s the reviewer who has accepted the Clean Rotation Logo, and most of my approvals were made by him. So, everytime I send in an item for review I cross fingers to get that guy for review.

I will continue starting so called whining-threads because as mentioned here, there seems to be one reviewer who likes to hard reject potentional topsellers without any given reason.

If other authors cannot point with the finger on it what’s the problem with my item, I will assume it’s a bad decision of reviewer. And that’s what I’m starting these threads for: To get other, more objective opinions on my rejected items.
