^ The only question is not when, but how.
Not sure if you have consider distances and times.

Talking about probabilities, is (far away) much more probable a total extinction than those kind of “travels”. But humans will never assume that.

Fascinating. We might never reach those places, but I’m confident that most sci fi stories will meet reality in the coming centuries. Though we should be happy with what we have here on earth and maybe take care of it instead of destroying everything. It’s a good thing we cannot reach other planet systems yet.

Space travel is actually very hard to achieve.

One of the theories is that the reason we have not contacted other alien races is that there is a large chance that they are extinct before they can also achieve space travel and IF they know how to travel through galaxies, they would not care to stop on Earth.

They would be so far ahead in evolution & technology that it would be similar for you to stop by an ant nest and say “hi there, I am from Earth, and I will teach you how to talk”

Well seeing how humanity has improved from each era. I wouldn’t be surprised if we made some sort of spaceship that travels in space. I mean in human’s eyes everything is possible, but the question is how many resources would that take to even build one spaceship that travels in space? And how would they do it?

^ Milky way is around 100.000 light years width (diameter). Considering we will find the way to create something travelling at the highest speed possible (light speed) and an unlimited energy system to feed it, we would need it be travelling for 50.000 years just to go outside our galaxy.

Then, we will need to wait another 50.000 years to receive the message that spaceship will send to us.

When i say “we” i mean human race, not us.
And considering the changes the human race could get in that time lapse… well.. that’s another story. :P

^ Yeah, at this moment the light is the ultimate thing in all our calculations. I hope that will change sometime, because it looks too slow compared to the size of stuff in the universe. I don’t like that! :)
I don’t even like the fact that gravity has the same speed as the light. If the Sun disappears now, we’ll feel it on the earth at the same moment we see the light going off – after 8 minutes. That sounds kinda stupid to me. :D

This is not entirely correct. While for us, observers from the Earth, it would take 100,000 years to receive the message from a ship traveling with the speed of light (50,000 for the ship to reach the boundaries of our galaxy and 50,000 for the message to come back to us), for the people inside the spaceship it could take few years to travel. Remember Einstein’s theory of relativity, when traveling with great speeds (near the speed of light), there is a space and time dilation. The space contracts (and the speceship is relatively larger, or longer), and the time runs much slower for travelers (compared to observers from Earth).

There might also be a possibility of creating wormholes (bending space) for extremely fast travel between two points in space (and maybe time). Just food for thought. :)
