Hello guys!

I searched a lot in google but couldn’t find any article with successful case study how theme business is run. I concern those studios who run business in house. I know most of theme developers are sole business or work with remote team. But it would be interesting how this business is built when run inhouse, having in staff founder, designer, programmer, help desk, etc.

I think in most of the cases team-work isn’t a working solution in the theme business because if you plan to create a great selling top-notch theme, you will need a team of members with high experience level and advanced skills in his job, but if you may find and hire them to work together as a team, they will probably start working on their own themes for a highest share in a really short time because it’s much more worth them in the point of incomes.

@eriktailor while that’s true, you’d be amazed to see that most of the people would choose to take 2,000 euros each month rather than risking and creating something on themselves with the chance of getting double, triple that amount.

People prefer the safer way, you can’t really compare a theme business with lots of clients, reputation with a new-comer developer starting to develop on its own.

I think there’s a good chance of making a successful company and make the people love what they’re doing. Maybe offer a small percentage of the first month earnings to the dev / designer, for motivation, other than the usual monthly salary.. Or offer other benefits…

While I run my business alone and just collaborate with other people, there are many members here that have their own team and they do everything in-house, without other people.

I often think about a question, we must hring advanced designer or developer if we want to build a team, but as @eriktailor said, they can earn more money if they submit the theme separately, why not?

Yeah the difficult task is to choose your employees wisely, they should be top-notch in what they are doing but not motivated personally enough to leave you behind and start their own business.
