All was confusion in the illustration. No accents. But graphic part I liked!

It’s supposed to be a little town :) Confusion is emphasized in this illustration, as it’s a city filled with construction zones, beaches and more.

I don’t understand how this could get rejected? What more does ThemeForest ask for?

Hello beetlesales, the idea is fine to my eye. Did you create all this graphics yourself? All these small buildings and trucks and beach umbrellas they are awesome.

Which exact reasons of rejection were given in reviewer’s letter? Not lack of uniqueness, I guess:)))

From technical point of view there are some faults you need to fix. Graphics does not cover wide screen–it starts at top left and shows pretty wide (200? 300? pixels) portion of blue body background on the right.

Second thing is that texts, logo etc were done not in html but in photoshop. It is uncomfortable to edit, it is google (seo) unfriendly.

And I think that today use of tables for markup is a pretty odd method. You used it for placing a button but it is not tabular data, it is just a button.

Wish you good luck in further work, Tanya

Yes, I know there are some faults in the design. However, I love using tables and a landing page doesn’t necessarily have to be SEO friendly. :) Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate it. The icons were not created by me, but the land, sun and everything else was.

Oh, and for the record, there is no “proof” stating tables are bad for SEO .

Anyhow, here is the rejection email I received:

=== Why We’ve Declined Your Submission ===

This template is not ready for ThemeForest. Your template does not provide a unique enough design with the necessary design quality, features and options to compete in the marketplace at this time. It requires improvements in term of design, visual hierarchy, typography, layout and its aesthetic quality but most importantly, its uniqueness and how the design is executed.

At this stage in the design I am, unfortunately, not able to provide more specific feedback other than what I’ve stated above (the design needs overall, general improvements). With further improvements I may be able to provide more specific feedback.

- Important: Improvements or fixes MUST be made to the above described areas before resubmitting. Resubmitting without making any of the requested changes violates our policy and repeated attempts may result in a temporary or permanent suspension of authorship rights.

But it’s ok, I’m going to completely give up on ThemeForest and start using my designs for niche sites. After all, I can certainly make a lot more money using this attractive method for niche sites than I ever could selling it on a marketplace.

I love the graphics very much, does not matter that icons are not yours, not everyone knows how compile and lay out some ready objects in a great way, you managed to create fully talking, friendly and attractive visual story.

I was sure that “it does not provide unique design” could not be among the reasons, may be I am not a good indicator and understand nothing but I am still sure that there are no many such backgrounds for landing pages (if at all).

You say, you decided to give up on TF, that’s a pity… But whatever you decide I really wish you good luck, Tanya

There’s no point in giving up as soon as you encounter a difficulty, because that way you’ll never learn. I’d suggest taking the opportunity to improve yourself instead.

The main reason why your template was rejected was the poor coding. You’ve used tables in unnesecary places, almost all text is in the background image and you’ve used inline styling. This results in making your template hard to edit, not seo-friendly and it gives your template a feeling of unprofessionalism. You can easily find tutorials explaining why your code is poor and how to improve it, so there’s really no reason not to take a little time to get your template accepted.

Remember, functionality and code is 50% of a website and a beautiful design should use beautiful markup. Good lcuk if you choose not to abandon TF and instead try to get this nice design accepted.

Thank you very much for the gratitude. :) I have decided to focus my attention on utilizing these landing pages for niche sites. Maybe I’ll implement some divs and place the white boards in a spot where html text can be used.

Thank you once again.

I will definitely attempt to optimize the site for SEO . When I build up enough motivation to give it another shot.. we’ll see :)
