Hi! Please bare with my noobness- but we’ve all got to start somewhere!

Anyways- I was wondering the best way to set the front page for a wordpress theme. I’ve read about one way and that is to go to your Settings->reading and setting the front page there (creating a frontpage template). Is this the traditional and best method to use? Do authors still create home.php pages?

Any help (even links) would be great on this. Thanks!

Settings -> Reading and here you go. Most authors do it in this way.

You should create a home.php or front-page.php template if the homepage has a different layout to tother pages but you do need to set the homepage in the settings as well.

I personally add a front-page.php to all my themes as it means I can add custom layouts to the homepage without having to change template layout in the page editor.
