Themes between $5 and $75

I have couple of questions:

Will every kind of theme priced by those range or is there any difference?

I sometimes feel few flash templates price should be higher on FlashDen(like triwork’s Elite template), but I accepted your maximum price with no problem. Do we have now the opportunity to ask a recalculation on those item’s price or do we able to move they to ThemeForest to gain higher price?

Can reach $75 one flash template?

I agree with you. I think Envato has a habit of making some of the work feel cheap. I understand why they do it but some of those things on FlashDen I would pay $300 dollars for in a heatbeat. I guess I’m from an opposite side of Sales philosophy as them.

I believe it’s because with ThemeForest/FlashDen, you already have a much wider amount of visitors to sell to, compared to your personal portfolio site. So even though your designs are being sold for less than you’d sell them for yourself, in theory you should be selling more of them.

The challenge is to make something complex enough to have a high price & yet simple enough for the average person to edit.

Remember that your profit is also Envato’s profit as well. Based on that, you can rest assured that they’ve chosen the sweet spot for price vs volume of sales.

Although I love Envato, I must say that pricing is a little weird. I don’t mind the site templates going for cheap, but I believe the distribution of the cash is off. I think the split of 25/75 is off. For instance, I have a client that sales art at an art gallery in southern California. The artist get’s 80% of any sale and the Art Gallery get’s 20%. I’m sorta new to the whole web template market so maybe it’s different.

I’m still going to add themes here (and buy them!) because I like what Envato is doing.

I really hope that I don’t come off as bashing or rude. The price split is just odd to me; however, I most likely do not know how this market goes.

My only guess is that with a well known artist, they are the ones that attract buyers to the gallery. In the case of Envato, they are the ones bringing all of the buyers to us. And if you do bring buyers to Envato yourself, you get a 50% commission on the first deposit

One extra thing on the topic of pricing is that it’s a lot easier to make prices go up than to go down. Since low prices attract people, it’s always a good idea to start a site lower, and then once its going increment the prices up a little – particularly on things that sell well. This is sort of what we did (unintentionally) on FlashDen which seems to be working.

Of course you don’t want to keep raising prices because that’s not very nice, but you know what I mean!

You shouldn’t feel foolish, referral money is something I greatly underestimated before I started selling files here as well. Then I started seeing that there were many times where I will make 60-70 dollars by selling a 25-35 dollar file, when you count the sales commission plus 50% of the first deposit.
