I liked the video. But is it really appropriate for a marketplace blog?

Actually I was a bit surprised but I’m glad they put it up. It’s a design blog so it’s defiantly on topic. I believe you have to 18 to get a paypal account which means you have to be 18 to do business here. The video brought humor and the guy does great work!

Yeah that’s true, you do have to be 18 to use PayPal. What about the kids that could potentially be browsing the site for inspiration or whatever? ;) Anyhow, it doesn’t offend me at all. I think it’s a good video that addresses the need for better design. I was truly shocked to see the ‘new’ design that was created for the motor lodge.

Unfortunately this lack of good design and judgement is not exclusive to the US. I see this kind of shit all the time in the UK. For example: every couple of days I get leaflets through my door from Pizza shops trying to sell me their stuff. They are always poorly designed and riddled with typos. They pay good money for the design too, they’re just unaware that there are much better, more responsible designers out there.

If you want to see some horrific design, just thumb through some classified advertisements. You’ll be in awe at the improper use of centered text and use of negative space.

I’ve seen this alot everywhere lately, thought I was the only one. The funny thing is these half assed designers will always make more money than us, because simply put, they don’t care.
