Hey all,
Item thumbnails must be JPEG or else GraphicRiver will throw an error… That is, if you want to manually ‘update’ your thumbnails. When you include them with a new item PNG will suffice. However, JPEG is not the way to go. It doesn’t look crisp, something we really need with thumbnails. Yes, I’ve exported my JPEGs at 100% quality, but still. It’s not crispy and clean. I want PNGs. How do I do this? Advice?
Thanks in advance…

This has always puzzled me too, especially when our profile avatars can be PNG files.
A while ago I remade my thumbnails and saved them all as PNGs before I realised that they had to be JPG . The JPG files don’t look as sharp AND were a larger file size.
Thanks for your opinion! This is really starting to bug me! As a place of graphic design we should really be able to use PNGs.

I noticed a strange and for me a bad thing a few weeks ago. After the item is accepted – when it shows up in the marketplace, the thumbnail looks a lot worse than at the moment of uploading. It looks like thumbnails are saved again with a higher compression level.
Indeed. That’s the source of my complaint. My own JPEGs were fine but after they were uploaded it seemed they were “re-compressed”, making JPEG -artefacts visible. However, contrary to my first statement, I’ve managed to upload/update PNG thumbnails. Strange…
However, contrary to my first statement, I’ve managed to upload/update PNG thumbnails. Strange…Not strange, just good timing for the new feature: it’s only been a day that they announced that we can now upload thumbs in PNG , check the thread in the ‘all marketplaces’ forum.

That’s great timing indeed.
After seeing this topic, I have just realized one of my item which is on the queue now has a .png thumbnail. However, my another item which was uploaded before the first one has been accepted. Yet, my first item is said it’s on the queue at the first of the queue.

It has been saying that almost a few hours. By the way, many items from different authors are accepted skipping my own item.
How is that possible? Moreover, I have not received a donotreply email. Is it just because it has a .png thumbnail or what?
Any idea would be helpful…
I had better start a new thread.
