too bay is right! HEHE ya I read that earlier. It sucks, Steve Jobs just thinks he can demand things from people. “Intel make me a CPU but make it 10 times smaller. Adobe, your mobile version sucks but your full version is too bloated. Make Apple a middle version!”
In my opinion it is the ONLY thing the iphone is lacking. Its apples way of trying to keep their head above the water in terms of internet video. They are making excuses because they really dont want to say what the real reason is…
the fact that quicktime (for internet video) is dying. With the addition of HD support in flash…quicktime stands no chance of remaining a quality web video format, and I guess apple thinks that if they dont allow a flash player, then anyone designing a site to be viewable on the iphone will need to make their videos quicktime, just so it works. I think in order for this to be successful every person in the world would need to own an iphone…which isnt the case, and I honestly dont think people are really going to give up the ease of the all might FLV with HD support…for a bloated quicktime, just so it will play in 1 target device.
stupid move apple. Now you wont get to benefit from it when a third party makes it work through some clever use of the SDK !
I couldn’t have said it better myself…
Well being an iPhone owner, and bobocel will as well very shortly. I have to admit, it is the greatest device I have ever owned, besides my computer. It is amazing and its exactly like everything else is described. I went one day without my iPhone and I realized on that day, how much I actually use all of the features, and really wonder how I got along before I had it!
People have already hacked the iPhone, I think there’ll be some unofficial version of it. This might be Jobs’ way of bending Adobe to his wishes, though He debunks it for technical reasons, maybe he is doing this to make Adobe take him seriously when he comes in to say “you need to do this, and this, and this, and then we’ll talk”.
That would be something. He and Bill both retiring the same year.
