If the authors here feel that their templates are worth more than the $30-$40 price they would not be selling here.

I’m quite sure authors feel like it’s worth more than $30-$40. That’s why authors like to see their files sell 10, 30, perhaps 100 times. This way, the true value of the file is reached. :)

As a standalone the files are worth more. The fact that they are sold in volume it diminishes their value and uniqueness.

So to summarize this thread so far…

Buyers: We want the 10X license back.

Authors: Hell no!!!

Envato: We’ll think about it and get back to you.

Is this about right?

wrong :)

real thing

Buyers: We want the 10X license back.

Authors: We don’t have nothing against but maybe 10 at the price of 3 its somewhat exaggerated.

Envato: We’ll think about it and get back to you.

Some other Authors: We want to pay once and use unlimited times.

Authors: Hell no!!!

:D

One thing you left out

Some other buyers: we want to pay once (a standard licence, the only license that every buyer pays at a higher price) and use unlimited times.

Like Chuckanucka said how many of your cheap single use licenses are used only once any way?

Can’t say this as you may imagine I don’t have a statistic, but if someone buys a single item license and use that item forever, then it shows that don’t care about the license and if the license its unlimited or not it has no importance for him.

It should all be based on trust and respect between authors and buyers. Buyers pays an amount for something that have way more value, knowing that the item purchased its not unique and it will be used eventually by someone else. Authors should respect the buyer, and even if they pay a fraction of the real value of a product, they have the right to have a functional and well designed product.

Envato has its place in the equation, with the reviewers that check the files to have the necessary quality, protecting the buyers and making sure they actually pay for the item, protecting authors.

This at least its the theory.

I want to know what would be so bad about a unlimited license at say 10 x the cost? its lower enough to attract the really honest buyers and higher enough to give the author a nice bonus. I don’t know why everyone is pretending that most people don’t buy once and use many times.

because denial is such a handy tool when there is no action available!

this its insulting, there’s 10 pages here with argumentation, and open discussion. No one denies anything.

I already told you, who don’t respect the license as they are will not respect them in whatever form they will be in the future. If someone prefer to buy once and use many times, are you sure they will buy a 10x license? They don’t care about no license.

Its like going to Adobe and ask to sell a software at 10$ only because there’s lot’s of people out there who use that software without paying. This its a stupid argument and I had enough about it.

Can’t bring something with out connection to table only because you deny the fact that this its a businesses and even if they had a discount in the past, they were always free to sell the products at full price.

Let’s try to respect each other here, by trying to actually read and make sense what everyone post and trying to stay on the argument.

The Adobe Analogy applies to the Copy Protection discussion…....nothing else.

The quality of some of the files here is awesome but Don’t get carried away…...a component carries out one function usually…Adobe sell software that can do things a million different ways.

Big Difference why they don’t sell their software for $10.
