Hey Everyone -

Alex here again. An important part of growing the marketplaces is nurture the potential of all categories. A lot of work goes into ensuring that we are constantly on the lookout for upcoming trends and we can support skilled people working in those areas.

Envato’s Most Wanted is our way of getting authors involved in launching a category with us, which has been really successful both in growing the marketplaces and in rewarding authors.

Likewise, we want to encourage buyers to explore niche categories that don’t always get a lot of love. The marketplaces are large, and not all the items get the time of day they deserve. With that in mind, we are trying something new today, highlighting the Landing Pages category on ThemeForest with a mini bundle promotion.

How are mini bundles different from normal bundles?

1. As its name suggests, the mini bundle is a niche collection, designed to show off great items from a category that we think could use some time in the spotlight. The result is a much smaller (but no less awesome) compilation.

2. We aren’t doing as much on-site promotion or design work around the mini bundles. For example, we’re only running a Notes Post for this and not building a custom landing page. We’re also not running a header bar for this mini bundle. In the future, we might run a header bar for one or two days. The best way to stay in the loop is to subscribe to the Bundle Newsletter.

As always, we’re trying something new, so your feedback and discussion is appreciated.

Take a look at the Notes Post for some fun tips and information about Landing Pages!

Also, I should say that its the end of the day here, so I’ll be back online in about 15 hours at 8 am AEST tomorrow to discuss! Looking forward to feedback!

Is one notes post enough to notice potential buyers? Hmmm..

Don’t you think that two days header bar is too obstructive for a mini-bundle ? Consider sidebar in category pages maybe?

Who would want to buy more than one landing page? :) And will this be in one cms category (only WordPress for example) or html, wordpress, joomla etc combined?

@BenSheppard – We looked for items that stood out in the category. I’m open for doing some kind of community nomination in the future though. Open to other ideas too. This one is a big test, so interested to see how it goes!

@candeed – agreed on the extra messaging might be a bit munch. This post was more for giving a little background on why we’re testing mini bundles, not as much ‘buy now’ – that’s what we use the email for especially, and Notes a little bit.

Besides the Notes post I think they’d do social media promotions too. What I care is how often would there be a mini-bundle (per marketplace, per week, per month etc.,) , how the pricing should be and how would this affect on normal authors ’s sales.

@playnethemes I’m open to running these across multiple categories. Lots of interesting ways to package up items.

@gbs – we’re watching for any effect against normal sales very closely. The theory going into this is that these types of promotions will increase normal sales as it builds awareness around certain categories. Getting away from header bar promos should help on that front too. Looking to mainly promote via email/banners/affiliates/partners/social

What is the point in bundles if nobody will know about them? Let’s say you’ll create a standard page on TF where people can buy it. So people can open this page only from post in Notes? I believe 95% of users (not authors) don’t read Envato Notes
