Is that Windows 8 Starter? I heard starter version has weird limitations. For example it won’t let you change the damn desktop wallpaper! Of course there are little programs created for that but it just isn’t there as built-in.

So I was wondering, what if formatting the drive is also removed from Starter version? I wouldn’t be surprised now since changing wallpaper is not permitted…

There is no such thing as Starter for Windows 8, where did you heard that? You’ve made me curious, the only versions of Windows are Pro, Enterprise and RT, no Starter, no Home Basic, no Home Premium nor Ultimate editions.

You can totally change your Windows wallpaper, no matter the version of Windows, you are really misinformed. :depressed:

I really don’t know why you can’t delete your C:\ if you have booted directly into your installation DVD. Did you not see your C:\ drive there, or the ‘Advanced options’ for drives is not there, or you didn’t get to the drive selection screen?

Also, what kind of hard disk are you using? Is that a normal magnetic HDD, or an SSD?

“Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds” is a limitation on Windows 7 Starter.

Take a photo with your phone, especially at the drive selection screen.

Also, if possible, list down all the steps that you’ve taken to install it, starting from how you got to the setup screen.
