Yea, Small Potato sold that site a while ago for a pretty hefty chunk of change… Then the jerk who bought it turned it into basically an affiliate link landing page… LAME !

I don’t think David would sell a major popular site to someone like that though…

Have a buddy that put in a bid directly with David yesterday, I’m hoping he gets it. He’s wanting somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 months revenue, which is a pretty hefty sum in this economy. I think he can really only expect half of that.

Appreciate all the kind words about Tutorial9. I’ve done my best to make my intents clear on the sale, and it’s great to see so many people realize that I’m not just going to hand the keys over to any buyer.

Tutorial9 has never been about me. It’s success, growth, and influences are all easily contributed to the community and it’s contributors. Sure, I am a contributor there (from time to time now given my schedule), and if the site does sell I’ll continue to contribute when I can.

Right now, it’s not too clear if the site will sell or not. I’m finding the balance that is fair to the buyer, myself, and to our audience. As @contempoinc suggests, I’m probably looking for more than a buyer is willing to spend on a year old site – and if that is the case we’re not going to sell out. Also, as many of you have suggested, we’re not going to sell to someone who doesn’t seem fit for the job. I’ve already turned away potential buyers simply because they seemed rude.

My hope though is that it does sell, and that it does find a new owner who can continue to give the site the time and investments it deserves. I’d like to pursue new ventures that are better suited for my goals and values: complete my education, do work overseas for some organizations I’ve been interested in for some time, get a house instead of wasting too much money on rent, and do work where I can be more hands on with other people in the community.

Regardless of what happens, I think Tutorial9 will continue to thrive. We’ve done a lot in a year, made some great friends, and have really enjoyed helping the community alongside amazing names like Envato – people we really admire. We’re going to keep doing that all the same
