...this licence type is much needed. Mark seems to be supporting this at that thread.

Why not have a section for “unique”? Ask the seller if they want their template to be featured in the unique section, set a price, then the template goes in that section for 3 days or so. If it sells at that unique price, great. If not, it becomes a normal file.

Ok but what kind of audience would you be targeting?

$1000/$2000, which would be about the “unique price” here, is also the average that most good Flashers charge for custom websites, so what kind of buyers would you be targeting with this license, someone that wants a unique website but doesn’t have the time to even think about its content, let alone find someone to do it?

Are there many of those people around, do you really think it’s a good market?

If you showed me any place on the net where this business approach is successful, I would definitely look into it, but I don’t beleive this is a good business plan in our time, this is not a stupid idea at all, but I beleive it doesn’t fit into the current economical frame, there’s nothing wrong with shelving good ideas for a while until it is best to bring them back out again ;-)

Up until SitePoint.com murdered its own templates for sale section, you could sell unique templates and mine sold almost every time. It was great.

Something similar could work here.

Yep, in my point of view it can be good for the music section, maybe the video too, but i don’t think it applied for flashden…Maybe for some specific file, but then we have to give the choice at each seller if they want to sell their file exclusively or not. But i like the idea of a specific section for this, exclusive file section could be great.

this is a bad idea because they come here to buy cheap templates, or else they would hire us one on one to get a real site done

@Pnademic…this is actually something that may really work for all envato marketplces. Atleast such feature can be implemented and this way the management “check” if this licence is something worth for them self too and make future plans about this licence.

@LGLab, there is an great example you can view and take a look at…google templatemonster and check their site. They have this business model from the day up they launched and as faar i remember, this was about 14 years ago…today they still have this business model and are successful. If we didnt think, this is a good market…we wont make any suggestions on here to be also implemented to Envato Marketplaces + we wont be selling on other similar marketplaces that uses this licence…you just dont know the benefits…taste it once and you will better understand :D

@FlashBros, it is not good only for the music or video section…remember that envato is not only of FlashDen, we have ThemeForest and GraphicRiver, which most items on this sites can use this “unique purchaise” licence. For sure you are right about the author is free to choose the licence type for his/her file while they upload. Then reviewers judge the item if that item is good enough and if it can sell under that licence you have selected. For the “unique purchaise” licence type, i am sure not every item can apply (quality based). This is another thing that will happen on all the marketplaces…authors will improve their items quality in order to be able to sell under this unique purchaise licence.

Because you can’t just “join” templatemonster.

That’s why they have the unique price and FD doesn’t… they have selected the best authors to build their templates, here almost anyone can join….the unique price kinda defeats the purpose of selling micro stock. Authors in the long run will make more money selling files multiple times at low price compared to selling it at a once off high price to a single buyer. The secret to selling here is to be patient, you not going to become rich over night, but with several quality files up you can get a steady income stream within 6 months or so.
