Might be better for exploring the site to show the “New items” on top, right now I need to scroll down quiet a bit to see them.

  • that search bar button is bigger than an item thumbnail and the search bar section is too big
  • Put “new items section” under the big search area
  • then “new items from people I follow” section
  • then “featured by staff”

Now is a very static page. Those featured items will have a new item added once a week

That means we will see pretty much the same items for more than 2 months!

Not an improvement, very poor concept. You can do better people. You have a great job at a great company, what about investing a bit more research in designing the front page the biggest most important thing that this website have?

I’m harsh but I’m not an envato employ, I don’t have to be careful with stepping on some boss ideas. We need some truth here.

How is new items less important than featured items? The new item section show a big strong point of envato marketplaces.

Fresh new items and ideas baked every day!

This is a strong selling point for envato yet someone thought, and then the the rest of the team approved, that is better to place at the top a bar with items that don’t change for months?

This is not good design and usability.

Also, that grid of items is ugly, it was ugly before and now is worse

Please develop a system where exposure is a factor of item complexity and price.

Item is 3$? get him a thumbnail of 80×80px and a couple of hours of exposure. Item is 60$? Get him a bigger thumbnail and at maximum homepage coverage as possible, days even a week.

Now new items are just at the bottom of the page with a cluster of low priced items plus a search page results that is not developed yet and gives very approximate results and with no powerful filtering.

I’m working a week, a month, six months for an item and I’m rewarded by less exposure as possible? Is not fair and also is not logical for my interests and for envato interests.

Strange thing!

Logged on 4 devices (2 PCs and 2 mobiles). Same user. On PCs I see the old design and on mobile devices I see the new one. So, it looks the 50% group is not user-based?

I liked previous layout better for New arrived items only because with one click on Codecanyon I could click Php Scripts (what I like mostly from all categories) and woohaa! got them… Now I need to go to do 1 click to dropdown and second click to Php Scripts. So instead 1 click … now 2….

Anyways now Featured Items will get more exposure for sure.. hope to be there someday as well!

Looks bad!

Why do we need so much unusable space on top? Do we all have 4K monitors?

Best Regards, Andrey

Hello Envato staff, how about remove “banner area with search form” only for developers? Simple checking accounts, if the developer = remove the banner, if a buyer or unregistered user = show. Not comfortable each time after refresh scroll the page down to see some interesting information. What do you think about this?

Completely agree with you Doru ! .... I am (as an Author) rewarded with less and even less exposure.

The new items should be moved to top and you should bring the buttons back. The drop down list will only bury new items. photo Home_Page_Suggestions_03_zps4fbd7a22.jpg

Also please note that no user comes here thinking … “I’ll buy something” .... They know what they want … So please point them to categories quickly !

Right now everything is cluttered together .. and the categories is hidden in a drop down list !

From UI prospective:
1. Why do you need so big Search and why two search fields in one visible screen aria.
2. As all experienced designers does… it’s create 1024×768 and insert top part in to that area, you will see that … laptop users will get only content till FEATURED, huh – awful!
3. There is no need to duplicate two times Popular Files and Latest Items… what’s that Learn More?
4. If you logic is to put View more featured Items before items on top, then why New items “All New Items , Popular items…” are on bottom? They should be also before…
5. Of course too much spacing and need to devide Just for You and New items sections… To make it more compact slider can be also before items on right corner.
6. Once we have New Items buttons at top, we can minimize spacing between NEW and FREE items.
7. Ugly part is that FREE items and FEATURED AUTHOR are looking too different in terms of TITLE and DESCRIPTION…
8. Of course I would put Our most loved promotions somewhere on top but will slider (not as now with page refresh) 9. And why do you repeat information in Search Block about HTML, WORDPRESS… if it’s before (like 100px up….) same categories there!

New layout will give AGAIN more exposure to TOP AUTHORS and TO FEATURES (witch also TOP AND ELITE AUTHORS most likely) ... no nothing new for New items…

Hope you will do new redesign… but at least you’ve started revolution with marketplaces redesign after a while…
