Hi Guys.. I need a quick word of advice :P

Im an oldtime member with Media Temple… I am about to upgrade my server to Mysql 5.. I have ALOT of Wp application and a few other small scripts installed that run on a database.

The problem is im a bit of a newbie.. i mean yeah… i made a full backup of DB’s and FTP but can someone give me tips? Perhaps made some experiences i could learn from?

Im scared :D please help!

Hi Sq,

The only thing I can think to tell you is to make sure you have absolutely everything backed up before going ahead with the upgrade. The upgrade procedure itself is fairly simple so you probably won’t run into any problems there.

If there are no other databases it’s fine I think but make to 100% sure you save EVERYTHING !

After ftp backup to backup your file, don’t forget to backup your database. I usually backup my database using Export function at PhpMyAdmin.
