Hey everyone,

Currently im running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit SP2 on my HP Pavilion dv5. My laptop’s spec are the following: 3 GB RAM , 2.2 GHz Dual core processor and 250 GB disk space. I was thinking of upgrading to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. Does it worth it? will it improve my laptop’s performance? I have ran the Windows 7 upgrade check and it said I can upgrade but will it increase the performance or will it kill it and slow it down?

Any experience with a similar situation?

Thanks

For sure will increase performance, Win7 in my case works even better then XP Sp3, but I use a mac for work and design, windows box it’s just for gaming from time to time.

The first thing to check are the drivers, usually Win7 will find a lot of drivers or maybe all for your system, but worths to check HP website for Win7 drivers to be sure.

Have a nice day.

I’m running Windows 7 on multiple computers after an upgrade from Windows XP.

All have dual core processors and more than 4gb of ram. I have not once noticed a slow down in performance with Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, iTunes, four different browsers and many other programs all running at the same time, it handles anything I throw at it and the new taskbar plus the other great features definitely make it more usable and productive.

I use my main pc for gaming, designs, coding, everything and it’s definitely a nice change.

Windows 7 does everything better than Vista or XP.

I am very satisfied with it. :)

I’d guess only one, but I’ve reformatted and used the same code plenty of times.

I only had vista for a few months on my Dell but everything seems a bit quicker with 7, especially the time it takes to resume/boot. I’d upgrade just for the nice little shortcuts and the window snaps…
