Use of photo from Flickr

Hi, can i use the photo below without asking permission to the author? of course i would give credit to the author.

How do we know if it’s allowed to use?

Again, as in the licence page (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/deed.en ), you are free to remix (to adapt the work). Hence, I believe that cropping is a form of adaptation as well, and is permitted by the licence.
