Please can someone explain to me what I am allowed to use in my files preview and what not. I just saw a after effects project NEW one that there is the photo of Angelina Jolie from a famous advertising campaign in the preview video.

That’s not allowed. There are photographs of famous people that are licensed for public domain usage – but generally very old ones. Marlene Dietrich is a possibility, but I very much doubt that a current commercial image of Angelina Jolie is licensed for such use.
It’s not impossible, but I suspect it’s one that slipped through the reviewing net.
