Hi there,

I’ve not been able to find guidance in the site documentation, but does anyone know Envato’s position on using your AudioJungle items on a demo CD or website? I’m an exclusive author, but would perhaps like to send demo CDs to potential freelance clients (of refer them to my composer website). Not looking to sell the tracks elsewhere (which obviously isn’t on!).

Not sure whether this is permitted (either with or without the watermark) or if you should refer freelance clients to your AJ profile if you’d like them to hear your AJ efforts.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks!

Jamie

hmmm… tracks that are not uploaded to AJ should be alright to do whatever you want with. After all its still your music.

When it comes to the tracks already uploaded im not shure but I think you should be able to promote your music. Not sell it on other sites but promote it on a cd ( no resale cd ) for instance. And from my understanding if you remove a track from AJ the contract for that song is broken, meaning that song is no longer exclusive resale on envato ( please correct me if im wrong!! ) :)

Good question, donbrae! I will look into this and find out a definitive answer as soon as possible. I’ll try to get this clarified in the Wiki also as you’re right, it’s not currently clear regarding the scenario you outlined. In the meantime, I strongly recommend that you continue using watermarked AudioJungle audio, particularly where Web sites are concerned. Again, I’ll report back here as soon as I find out the answer. :)

Hey guys! :-) Okie, so the rules state that as an exclusive author you cannot:

a) Sell the same items on another marketplace or site (including your own), or b) Give the same items away for free.

It sounds to me like you’re making a demo on CD or on a website to demonstrate the quality of your work for prospective clients? If so that’s absolutely fine – as long as you’re not giving away the items you have for sale on AudioJungle for free.

I hope that helps, and good luck with the promotion, Donbrae! :-)

Many thanks, Cyan. Your explanation does help. I am looking to use my AJ stuff for a demo. I’ll keep the watermark over the tracks on my website as I don’t want people taking them for free either :-)

Awesome site, btw. Really enjoying creating stuff for the Jungle.

Hi there. I know that this post is 3 years old but I have a question that seems to be in this direction. What if people like my music so much that they want to have my music non watermarked on a cd to listen to it in the car or at home. Can I sell audiojungle uploaded items on a cd for just personal private and non commercial uses? I just ask because it says: dont give it away for free. Thanks for your time.

Bingo, a “demo” cd never means you’ve provided the receiving party with a license to use said songs in any commercial respect! That would be disastrous lol.

Non-commercial use (ala Itunes, bandcamp, etc.) for private listening is the equivalent of what TRAX serves here on Envato. I am inclined to believe that Envato doesn’t allow opting in for any track on audiojungle to potentially be sold under a “TRAX”-style license because that would open the door for people to simply purchase the track for $1/$2 and decide to use it in a commercial respect anyway. Too easy for that temptation to arise when you’re assuming a browsing audience that is centered around commercial usage application.

There’s no way any type of licensing you do on Envato could bar you from providing/selling personal listening cds of your non-watermarked work to friends. That’s silly. You have to consider the market that audiojungle is targeting and the potential for dilution of your licensing brand power. In this case by handing out/selling cds to just “listen to” you’ve targeted a market that has zero overlap with any internet-based community that would be interested in licensing from you and in fact likely only strengthened your ability to promote awareness of your music and name as a “brand” which will indirectly drive sales of licenses on this site in the long run.

Marketing ftw ;)
