I’m fairly certain I’ve seen this posted before but can’t remember the answer nor can I find the original post.
Can you use a tutorial, let’s say from Net Tuts, modify it so the graphics/UI are different and sell it on here in your theme?
The code will be from the tut, but the design is yours. Is this allowed?
Thanks
I don’t think so seeing as how the guidelines (this is on the PHP component upload page) say: DO NOT upload components that are widely available for free around the web.

If you’re using the tutorial to build a feature into your website then sure. The template obviously can’t be made of only what’s in the tutorial though. For example, Jeffrey has posted lots of jQuery and PHP tutorials on the Theme Forest blog and Theme Forest authors are encouraged to learn from them, modify them and use features from them in their templates.
If you meant something else, then the situation might be different though.
Hope this helps.
That sort of helps. I’m interested in the tut that uses Scriptaculous and Prototype. It will have the same sliding effect but it will be designed different.
That should be O.K. right?
Yeah, that seems okay. It’s not that tutorial is the first to make use of that effect. Know what I mean?

Of course, these tuts are there for people to learn from and use. Create your own snazzy design, use the code and have fun!
Thanks fellas, I appreciate it. Hopefully I can make something nice enough to get on here.
