If you’re using your personal Facebook page to conduct business, you’ll want to read this!
Guys, I found messages over a year old from potential clients! How did I miss them?
Did you know if you’re not a “friend” of someone who is trying to message you on Facebook, any message they send you does not go in you inbox… it goes in this sort of pseudo-inbox that is easy to miss (cuz it’s not in bold) called, “Other.” (Really? They couldn’t have called it anything else? Other. No one ever sees “Other” and thinks, ‘Oh, this might be important!’)
Here’s what I’m talking about:
In this “Other,” I had 93 unread messages. I found a couple of messages asking for my audio services… over a year old. And I still have about 80 more messages to look through…
So here I go. Some apologizing to these potential clients is in order and perhaps I’ll make some money from these after all!
Here’s the article in the Facebook help center explaining “Other” – http://www.facebook.com/help/188872764494245
Hope this helps those who had missed “Other” like myself.
Good luck, Freelancers!
Hi Phil, I did not find anything valuable in my Other folder but anyway good to know. Thank you for the information!
Best Regards, Andrey
Wow, 34 messages and most of them wanting some graphics, unfortunetly most of them are too old to answer :/
Thx for the info and shame on FB UI.
Wow! Just some junk mail in mine too, but yeah, totally didn’t know about this! Thanks a lot!
Uhh, 42 unread messages and all of them asking for a customization but too old to answer. Damn
Thanks for info and will check it everyday
Yeah, I noticed that months ago and was shocked as well. Talk about terrible functionality! FaceBook should notify about any private message, what’s the point if you don’t notify the user? I bet very few people know about it.
F*!! More than fifty messages, most of them asking for support, but the worst part, a lot asking for pre-purchase doubts. Stupid FB and its far-from-intuitive UI.
Btw, thanks for the info!
