God bless you Lance! :D This is the news I was expecting for quite some time. Now I am happy. My work as a vector artist is a little better appreciated. Thanks!

gnazlis, it is not about sales man. It is about income. If you sell 3 illustrations for 2$ each, and I sell one illustration for 8$ – who is better off?

Sure, “there are a lot of agencies out there with lower “pay as you go” prices, size/price options and subscription plans”. I too sell a lot of illustrations there. But GR is my second best earner. So it seems to me that those other agencies are not doing it right. They better pay attention at how GR is doing it.

@Malchev: Have you tried to see this from the buyer’s aspect as well? Let me show you something: Go to vectors, and type “apple”. All the hits are coming in 80×80 pixels you have to move the mouse 1 by 1 to see a usable size. There is no further feature for selection, lightbox, narrowing etc… Ok, now do what most of your potential buyers do: Go to an “another” place and type “apple” over there. Wooow. see what i mean?
Buyers not only pay for the items here guys. They also pay for the service how effectively they can find that items.
I have no problem with increase the prices, not at all. I agree with that on the author side indeed. But i also have a question: Is there anything became better for the buyers? U know, what i’m sayin’?

I just tried it. I searched for an apple here and in the “top 3 agencies”. And WOW indeed! I didn’t know that GR had one of the best searches by relevance. I found a lot of good apples very quickly, and I didn’t have to dig in a pile of rotten apples. I agree about the 80 pixel thumbnail. When it comes to vectors – they can make GR generate all the previews that they need, just like any other agency does. But this bothers mostly the authors though. By the way customers here get one of the largest preview images: 590 wide and infinite height! WOW! But all this is irrelevant with the subject of this post. It was about prices, not about search and preview images. And prices were too low. (2$ for illustration?! Come on, man! Do you know how much time it takes to draw and upload a vector illustration?) But let me answer your last question if I may – “Is there anything became better for the buyers?”. When I first registered to GR i uploaded just one illustration and they gave it such a low price (compared to other agencies) that I didn’t upload anything else. But GR made some improvements and I uploaded some more. They raised prices slightly and I uploaded more. Then they increased the royalty percentage and I uploaded my entire portfolio. I know of some other artists who did similar thing. So, “Is there anything became better for the buyers?” Yeah – they get illustrations now. They get stuff to buy. Cause vector artists are now better motivated to work and produce quality items.

as i told you i agreed with the higher price. But i still have the opinion photodune also suffering from the same problem: uncomfortable search engine. And in these categories “popularity” does not really matters. Illustrations and Photo images are not for impulsive buyers. And authors need a huge portfolio to cover wide range for the buyers. What i trie do explain to you >and yes, its related to the price< Envato increased the prices but did nothing with the service.

Great to hear…we needed it. Good to see forward movement, hopefully it trickles to the other categories as well.

Well said, Vector Guru Malchev :) Buyers want choice, and unfortunately for the reviewers and other authors wanting to stay on the homepage for longer than half an hour, that does require a ‘flood’ of items. Time for Vector Valley??? Who would NOT agree?
