I am going to be receiving some MP4s pretty soon from our editor that were shot on green screen. I need to key out the green screen so it works against any background in flash. I’ve seen this post: http://www.quasimondo.com/archives/000615.php but that is for AS2 . Has anyone seen this done in AS3 ? I can’t seem to find a solid answer anywhere.

will that work with MP4 ? I thought it was just FLV that would work in

Yes sure the higher the quality the better ,just use the keying effect option or use one of those free plugins, then you just key-out the green/blue background, make sure to export It from AE with alpha channel encoding, and thats it give and take …. rendering will take longer then 2 minutes with AE :p

It’s just option this already build in so don’t worry …there other free plug-in you can use but what AE have as default will do the job for you .

but we are taking about removing the background with AE=After Effects

got it. I found an after effects/flash tutorial lee brimelow did and I will follow that. Only thing is from my googling, I’ve found that only On2 VP6 codec will work with alpha channel, so that means FLV

Use Animation codec Millions of Colors on the Alpha channel it’s a large file but fairly high q or you can try play also with the Matte filters or use render out the alpha channel as a separate clip or use other codec like PNG , i think PNG will do the trick for you ,that`s the only way you can work around H264 codec that don’t support alpha channel (apple i guess :P ) , lots of data on the render….. ho this way is a long rode …..

to key this out via coding(as3) will never be prefect and way to many filters in use
