It should be extended. Because, he will use same trailer in DVD and he is selling this DVDs and earning money with its each copy.

As I mentioned above…if that trailer’s on the DVD. :-)

I was thinking of it from a distribution deal kind of vibe… i.e the production company makes the film and the trailer and they then sell that to a studio or multiple studios around the world. Not exactly how it would work in that instance, as the studio they’ve sold it to is then selling it on to other territories so they’d be selling on their extended license which isn’t allowed under any of the licenses as far as I’m aware.

Then you’ve got the question of ‘is the studio selling and/or renting the print to the cinema’? So it could be the freelancer making the motion graphics parts for trailer and selling that to the trailer company, who was hired by the production company, who sold the film to the studio, who then sold the film to the distribution company in Poland, who then sold that to the Polish cinemas, who then sell their tickets to the moviegoers!

Had a quick look for any international versions of the trailer with non-English text on it but couldn’t find any. That would warrant at least another license being bought.

I’m maybe exaggerating or going over the top slightly there, but it’s a possibility! If it was me, and I was working on that trailer… i’d definitely go for an extended license. Would be good to hear the official stance on it though.
